Writer: Nanci BradleyNanci Bradley

Your back is important, especially when caring for young children. But who has time to take care of their back? Here's a shortcut for you if you care for our youngest. Our top 3 yoga-like activities that you can do for yourself while you're caring for children. Why not include them in the fun and relaxation!

one

Humpty Dumpty

Start by sitting cross-legged on the floor and encourage the children to do the same. Make sure ther's enough toy-free space behind everybody to fall back. Place your hands on your kness and rock side to side while repeating this:

Humpty-dumpty sat on a wall, (rock slightly twice to each side)

Humpty-dumpty had a great fall; (at this point all fall backwards if able)

All the king's horses and all the king's men (lift up your legs as shown and mimic a bicycle)

Couldn't put humpty-dumpty together again. (push back up to a sitting position)

AGAIN? repeat as long as you feel comfortable!

two

Rock-A-Bye Baby

Pull your knees up to your chest and rock side-to-side while singing.

Version 1

Rock-a bye baby in the tree top

When the wind blows, the cradle will rock.

When the bough breaks, the cradle will fall,

And down will come baby,

Cradle and all.

Version 2

Rock a-bye Baby,

In the tree top.

When the wind blows

the cradle will rock.

When the bough bends

The babe it will place.

Into Mom's arms right by her sweet face.

Let's Sing With Our Legs Up the Wall! (any favorite song will do)
