Georgia's gubernatorial candidates

Here are 4 candidates, in no particular order. This post will be revised as the race changes.

Keisha Lance Bottoms

From her official website:

Keisha will work to eliminate income taxes for teachers, crack down on corporate landlords that are buying up houses and making it harder for families to buy a home or afford rent, and she will invest in education so our children have better pathways to success through career training or college.

"As governor, I’m proposing to eliminate state income taxes for teachers, make community and technical colleges tuition-free, expand mental-health services, strengthen support for caregivers, and address affordable housing statewide."

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Tuesday, February 4, 2025

ATLANTA | Today, Lt. Governor Burt Jones announced a priority for the 2025 Legislative Session creating a child tax credit and expanding childcare tax programs, sponsored by Senator Brian Strickland (R – McDonough).

Ahead of the 2025 legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly, Lt. Gov. Burt Jones, considered to be a potential candidate for governor in 2026, laid out what his priorities and goals were as it related to childcare and taxes in the coming year.

Jones’ op-ed in the Atlanta-Journal Constitution said the state needed to work to grow the number of teachers working in the public school system as well as increase the number of childcare workers, calling it a critical issue impacting the state and its workforce.

“Child care is critical, not only for childhood development, but also for Georgia’s economy. Families across Georgia face the important choice of whether to have one spouse cut back on working hours or leave the workforce altogether due to the high cost of child care,”

Jason Esteves

Democrat Jason Esteves is placing early childhood education at the center of his bid for governor, outlining a plan Monday that would remake Georgia’s child-care system and build on the state’s legacy.

The proposal is the first major policy platform of Esteves’ campaign and centers on using existing Georgia Lottery reserves to expand access to early learning programs.

"Georgians are working harder than ever, but so many are still being left behind," Esteves said on his website. "I'm done watching extreme politicians rig the system for special interests just to stick working families with the bill."

Brad Raffensperger

Thanks to President Joe Biden and his failed economic policies, hardworking Georgians are struggling to make ends meet. Despite working more hours and more jobs, their paycheck simply can’t match the high costs of food, gas, housing, healthcare, and childcare. While President Trump is fighting to alleviate the tax burden for the American people, Brad Raffensperger will continue the progress made by Governor Kemp by championing tax cuts and economic reforms so Georgia families can afford to live the American Dream.

  • Reduce the economic burden of childcare/daycare by providing tax incentives for parents.\
