Dear Friend, I have a feeling that you're much smarter than most people think you are. Especially if you care for very young children. At early childhood rocks! non-profit we want to help you get the respect you deserve. Caring for caregivers is our specialty.
Caring for children during their first few years of life is only one of the reasons you matter so much to the world. But it's an important one.
This video from the Harvard Center on the Developing Child on brain architecture illustrates this point well and it's only 3:58 minutes long. Harvard has dozens of short and informative videos like this on their website, some available in many different languages. These videos are free to the public.
At ecr! we suggest that you take advantage of these resources and share them with your family, your boss, your co-teacher and anyone else who really cares. You could also share them with anyone who questions your decision to work with infants and very young children.
After all, you're planting the seeds of empathy that will continue for the rest of their lives.
If you want more information about empathy in early childhood, developmentally appropriate boundary setting, or inclusion, join our community here. When you do you'll get our eBook on Getting Kids To Listen and Like It!
